Terms of service
Version 2026-11-03
This is a draft awaiting legal review. It describes how the game works today.
These terms are the agreement between you and me for playing Airline Simulator at airsim.amiviastudio.com. They are short on purpose: the game is free, has no advertising and sells nothing. How I handle your personal data is in the separate privacy policy.
Who I am
Airline Simulator is made and run by me, a private individual in Norway. If I set up a company to run the game, it takes my place in this agreement and I will tell you before it does.
- Name: Jens Christian Blix
- Postal address: Dronning Eufemias gate 51, 0194 Oslo, Norway
- Contact: jcb@idiotsmaking.games, in English or Norwegian. I aim to answer within a few working days.
The agreement
You accept these terms when you create an account. If you do not accept them, do not create one; if you stop accepting them, you can delete your account at any time (see Ending). If a part of these terms turns out to be invalid, the rest still applies.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf.
- One account per person, with an email address you own: the account is confirmed through it, and password resets go to it.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account, unless someone got in through a fault of mine.
- Tell me at jcb@idiotsmaking.games if you think someone else is using your account.
What the game is
- Airline Simulator is a game. Its markets, fares, costs, crises and people are simulated and simplified; nothing in it is financial, business or aviation advice.
- The aircraft makers in it are fictional. Real airports, places and some real companies are named only to identify them; the game is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them, and its events and people are made up.
- Money in the game is play money. It has no value outside the game and cannot be bought, sold or paid out. You may not trade accounts, airlines or anything in the game for real money.
Playing fair
In worlds you share with other players and in the weekly challenge, everyone plays by the same rules. You may not:
- use bots, scripts or other automated tools to play, or to read the game faster than a person could;
- exploit a bug for advantage (report it to jcb@idiotsmaking.games instead);
- run several accounts for an advantage, such as entering the weekly challenge more than once or trading between your own accounts;
- try to get at other players’ data or accounts, or disrupt the game’s servers.
In a single-player world you play alone, so play as you like there, the built-in cheat included; it does not work in shared worlds or the weekly challenge.
Names, messages and conduct
Other players see your airline’s name, code and livery, your alliance’s name, the names of worlds you list in the lobby, and the messages and offers you send them; weekly challenge entries are visible to every signed-in player. In all of these, do not:
- harass, threaten or insult anyone, or attack people for who they are;
- post anything sexual, violent or otherwise unlawful under Norwegian law;
- impersonate a real person, or pass your airline off as a real airline or company;
- share anyone’s personal data, advertise or spam.
Reports and moderation
- Reporting. Anything another player wrote has a Report button: airline and alliance names, listed world names, chat messages and trade offer notes. Anyone, player or not, can also report unlawful content to jcb@idiotsmaking.games, saying what it is, where it is and why it breaks the law or these terms. Reports are kept confidential: the player reported is not told who reported them.
- Decisions. A person (I, or a moderator I appoint) looks at every report and decides. The one automatic step: a chat message reported by three players is hidden until it has been looked at, and comes back if it breaks no rule.
- What can happen. Depending on how serious it is: nothing; a name changed; a message or note removed; your chat paused for a time; a challenge entry or shared-world airline removed; or, for serious or repeated breaches, the account closed. I choose the mildest step that deals with the problem.
- Reasons. When I act on something of yours, I tell you what was done, why, and which rule or law it broke, in the game or by email.
- Asking again. You can ask me to look at a decision again, within six months, by writing to jcb@idiotsmaking.games. I will answer with a decision and the reasons. If you are still not satisfied, you keep every right to go to the bodies and courts named under Complaints and disputes.
Who owns what
- The game (its code, design, texts, stories, images and staff portraits) is mine. You may play it and share screenshots and videos of your play; do not copy, resell or rebuild it.
- Your airline names, liveries, logos and messages stay yours. You let me store them and show them in the game, to the players who would see them there, for as long as your account exists, and for the time the backups keep them after that.
- The logo the livery editor lets you download is yours to use as you wish, as long as it does not imitate someone else’s mark.
Price, availability and changes to the game
- The game is free. If I ever offer something to buy, it will come with its own clear terms and price before you pay anything, including your right of withdrawal where the law gives one, and nothing you have already played will become paid without your choosing it.
- The game is in active development and run by one person. It will sometimes be down for updates or faults, and I cannot promise that it is always available or free of errors.
- I will keep changing the game: balancing, new features, removing what does not work. A change can affect how your airline does.
- Worlds can end (some have an end date), and data can be lost in a fault. I keep backups and restore them when I can, but I cannot promise to restore every world exactly as it was.
Ending
- You can stop at any time: Delete my account on the Account page removes your account and everything in it at once.
- I can close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, after a warning where that is reasonable, and I will tell you why (see Reports and moderation).
- If I close the game, I will give you at least 30 days’ notice in the game and by email, and you can download your data from the Account page until then.
Liability
The game is free and offered as it is. As far as the law allows, I am not liable for lost game progress, worlds that end, downtime, or decisions you make in the game, and you are not liable to me for ordinary use of the game. Nothing in these terms limits liability for harm caused on purpose or through gross negligence, for personal injury, or any other right you have under consumer law that cannot be given up by agreement.
Complaints and disputes
- If something is wrong, write to me first at jcb@idiotsmaking.games; most things can be sorted out that way.
- If we cannot agree and you live in Norway, you can ask Forbrukerrådet (the Norwegian Consumer Council) to mediate, and take the case to Forbrukerklageutvalget (the Consumer Complaints Board).
- If you live elsewhere in the EEA, the European Consumer Centre in your country can help with a dispute with a business in Norway, and so can Forbrukereuropa, its Norwegian office.
- You can always go to the courts instead; as a consumer, you can bring a case where you live.
Which law applies
Norwegian law applies to these terms. If you are a consumer living in another EEA country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of your own country.
Changes to these terms
I may change these terms as the game changes. When I do, I will raise the version above and tell you in the game at least 30 days before a change that limits your rights takes effect; corrections and changes in your favour can apply at once. The game asks you to accept a new version. If you do not accept it, you can delete your account before it takes effect, and the terms you accepted apply until then.
