The board and budgets

Objectives and confidence, what the board will do for you, and the yearly budget.

The board

Your shareholders' board sets objectives each season (the calendar year): an operating result (break even, for a new airline), punctuality, SkyRate stars (freighter load for a cargo airline) and growth in weekly departures. It meets on the 1st of each month, and its confidence (60 to start) moves with your progress, negative cash and administration. See Board.

With good confidence you can ask it for more money from the shareholders once a season, or for an easier objective.

The budget

Once an airline has 90 days behind it, and every December for the year ahead, the board wants a yearly budget, department by department, month by month (not in sandboxes or challenges). There are two ways:

  • Leave it to the CFO (the default): the finance department drafts it, the board signs it off, and the board's reviews against it can only reward you.
  • Set it yourself: adjust the draft, close any gap to what the board expects, and send it for approval. It counts in full and sets monthly spending limits per department.

The budget page and its guide explain both.
